Shedding Skin

Haven't updated here in a while! Unfortunately nothing new, but there's some pieces that never got posted here so I figured I should! So in no particular order:

Manta Guard Colours

Textured my Manta Guard character, giving some colour to him. Next step might be trying to give him some armour.

Along with a Moon Bear drawing. Tossed her up on MySoti.

Kelindros the Thorned

Figurine/toy idea that I'd like to see made, and am gradually working on the design for. His name's Kelindros, bit of a loner, and stand-off-ish. He lives alone as most people have trouble getting close to him.

Dead Bird is Dead

Long time ago, Druids used to die in their forms in WoW. For some reason that changed. For your viewing enjoyment though, I present a quick animation of the Epic Flight Form dieing.



Made some minor rigging tweaks, added some controls and did the animation. Original Model, Texture and Rig are copyright to Blizzard Entertainment. Next one, I think I'll re-do the painted weights from scratch. Some malformation is apparent in this one.

Just keep swimming

Random, small, monster speed painting thingy. Think that guy needs some more fleshing out time. Be nice to see him in some line work.

Thought I'd try a basic weapon, having never tried one before. Was aiming for obsidian with the hilt and pommel. Time to try something a step up~

Promotion.

After the Battle of Milford Deep, Lartuvius proves his ruthless nature in defeating the enemy, quickly raising him in the Secondary Battalion and placing him in command of his own unit. He also got a fancy hitting stick!
Developing the Manta Guard idea a little more, fleshing out some concepts for armor and accessories.

Couple of drawings, and a random landscape... thing. Lookin' kind of dead, most of them.

One giant leap for Snapdragons (or a brisk walk, in this case.):



There's an HD option that'll let you actually see the details of the texture map instead of just a blur, if anyone's interested. It's a little big for the blog, but it'll get pushed down eventually.

Seams a little off...

Quick texture update on the Snapdragon. Not quite perfect yet, the seams are fairly noticeable and need some tweaking still, but overall he's made a leap from what he was. Random shots from the walk cycle, although he doesn't actually open his mouth in it. Just wanted a shot of that purple tongue~

Learned a lot about rigging from this.

Bowser Gone Wrong

Some rough monster concepts, of the fishy variety (a little out-dated).

Will have the Snapdragon walk cycle up by this weekend. Really wanting to do some more with him, but need to get some more biped practise in there.

Chunky.

Just some quick models. Went back and looked over the Snapdragon. Can't get trying to animate him out of my head, so started the (hopefully) refreshing task of trying to rig a full model for the first? Maybe second time. Not the most appealing thing on my list, but what can you do. Can't eat the cake without cooking.

Another model in the works. Based off of the interesting monsters of Ether Saga Online, with that Journey to the West theme. Must admit I'm a sucker for that whole Guardian/Monster Pet thing. Gonna give texturing him a shot, and hopefully match the style of the game. Incoming Swirlies~!Also realized I never posted my first full attempt at texturing. Not exactly the most beautifully done, but I managed to figure out an alpha map for her crystal portions to make them semi-transparent. Small steps...

Trying to get back into the habit of drawing monsters. Not drawing them as often as I used to. Definitely needs to change!

Beach Bums and Granny Bloomers

Some Surfer people done up in Flash. Was actually pretty fun, and has got me doin' some monsters in there, too (hopefully those'll get up here, later ;P). Biggest qualm.. is probably the faces. Needed some more work, there, or just that extra "unf" of refinement.
Lesson learned for next time!

PuGs are terrible things...

Sir Puggins, despite his noble and pure lineage, never did get the feeling he got the same amount of respect as the other Dog Nobles.

Dog Fight!

From Photo Reference. First time I've tried this, but it was a lot of fun. The range of colours in there is.. crazy~! Hopefully I'll learn more about colour this way. About 40 mins or so.

Well, just finished off my entry for the Game Artisans Death Knight competition.

Tons of fun, amazing people with amazing work. Hopefully learned a lot, but there's always more to learn.

Biggest thing I think I've come to realize is my need to improve my colour theory. Definitely a lot more there that needs work, but it was a good experience, and I'll make the next models better each time I do it.
